A Note for the Skeptic

Addressing Concerns About Muscle Testing

First, let me say thank you for reading this.

If you have landed on this page, you were most likely referred by a friend or family member who tried to explain what muscle response testing is, and you walked away feeling like it was

"woo-woo." Trust me, you are not alone.

I Understand Your Skepticism

The concepts behind muscle testing do come from Eastern medicine philosophy, which can feel foreign—even offensive—to the Western medical ear. For many people, especially those without a background in alternative medicine, muscle testing can seem strange, unscientific, or difficult to accept.

From a Christian standpoint, which I hold, it is easy to dismiss muscle testing as New Age or even associate it with practices that conflict with biblical teaching. I understand these concerns deeply because I myself have wrestled with these very questions.

Why does this work?

Is there anything in this practice that goes against the Word of God?

Can this be reconciled with my faith?

The Questions I Had to Answer

My Conclusions

I can wholeheartedly say there is nothing inherently evil in muscle testing.

I believe muscle response testing is a biofeedback tool—a method of accessing information about what is going on in the body. It is no more mystical than using a thermometer to measure temperature or a stethoscope to listen to the heart. It is simply a different way of gathering information about the body's state of health.

That being said, I make it a point to begin every single appointment with prayer, regardless of whether my client is a believer or not. I want to approach each testing session in a spirit of humility, acknowledging God as the ultimate healer and asking for wisdom and insight on what to test.

My Approach

I believe that all healing comes from God. The tools we use—whether conventional medicine, nutrition, supplements, or muscle testing—are simply ways of understanding what the body needs in order to heal. God created our bodies with remarkable systems of feedback and communication. Muscle testing is one way we can tune in to that God-designed communication system.

I approach this work with:

  • Prayer at the beginning of each session

  • Humility in recognizing God as the true healer

  • Discernment in asking for wisdom about what to test and how to help

  • Faith that God can use natural means to bring about healing

For Those Who Want to Explore Further

If you find yourself wanting to dig deeper into these questions, I highly recommend the following resources that thoughtfully address the intersection of faith and energy medicine:

By Sarah Thiessen

This highly readable resource provides a thorough explanation of the world of energy medicine from a Christian perspective. Thiessen addresses common concerns and misconceptions while offering a biblical framework for understanding how these practices can be used in service of God's healing purposes.

Perfect for: Those new to the conversation or wanting an accessible introduction

God's Energy Series: 3 Book Series

By Christian Schwartz

For the theologian and those who want a more scholarly approach, this series explores the use of the term "energy" in the Greek New Testament. Schwartz provides an in-depth biblical and theological examination of energy in Scripture and how it relates to healing practices.

Perfect for: Those seeking rigorous theological grounding

An Invitation

I do not expect everyone to be immediately comfortable with muscle testing, and that is okay. What I hope is that you will approach it with an open mind, knowing that my intent is to honor God in this work and to help people find genuine healing.

If you have questions or concerns, I am always happy to discuss them. I believe that honest dialogue and a willingness to wrestle with difficult questions are signs of a mature faith, and I welcome those conversations.
